This is not a stand alone game.
To make use of these Lines of Battle lists, scenarios, and campaign you will need a copy of the Men of Bronze rules to take full advantage of these rules.
The Ionian Revolt is a supplement intended to flesh out and add detail for the Ionian Revolt.
This period has been made popular by the Histories of Herodotus. He is the primary source for this period of history and the battles fought. Frequently, the details are left scattered, or with few details.
Instead, we must build on what is written, the archeology, and good old fashion supposition to fill in some of the gaps.
This particular period is of interest to me as a gamer for a few reasons.
One, the details are sparse so there is room for us to play the types of games we wish to play.
Second, this was a full-scale naval and land based campaign which gives it greater scope to explore.
Finally, understanding this conflict is like holding up a mirror to the Greek-Persian Wars that came after. In Ionian, the Persians faced and defeated Greeks. In the Greek-Persian Wars, the opposite happened. The differences in outcome are interesting.
