The Floor is Lava is a card game in which players try to avoid falling into the lava.
At the start of the game, each player gets three rock cards. During the game, they steal these rock cards from each other. Each player has a hand of three cards. There are three types of cards: regular cards (numbered 1, 2, or 3), wild cards, and steal cards.
On their turn, a player can play a set of three regular cards with the same value to steal a rock card from another player. Wild cards can be used to substitute for a regular card in order to make a set. Alternatively, a player can play a single steal card, which also allows them to steal a rock card (or sometimes two) from another player.
Is a player unable to play a set or a steal card, they simply discard one card without stealing a rock.
At the end of their turn, the player refills their hand to five cards.
Once a player loses their last rock, they are eliminated from the game. They fall into the lava, and turn in a lava monster. Despite being eliminated, they still participate in the game. On their turn, they can remove one of the rocks from one of the remaining players, removing that rock from the game.
When only one player remains, that player wins the game, and the game ends.
