Descrizione: Snex is a connection game for two players: Black and White. It is played on the intersections (points) of an initially empty square board. The top and bottom edges of the board are colored black; the left and right edges are colored white. The recommended size is 8 points per side, though 6 and 10 are also valid. Each player has access to a sufficient supply of stones of their own color.
Definitions:
A snake is a maximal set of stones of the same color connected orthogonally, in such a way that it does not form 2×2 blocks. A single stone is an egg.
A hatchling of a snake is a subset of orthogonally connected stones within a snake. A snake may contain multiple hatchlings. A single stone within a snake is also a hatchling.
An endpoint of a snake or hatchling is a stone orthogonally adjacent to no more than one stone within the same snake or hatchling. A snake or hatchling may have only one or two endpoints.
The head of a snake or hatchling is the endpoint closest to a board edge or corner. The other endpoint is the tail.
A crosscut is a configuration within a 2×2 area of board points that contains exactly two White stones and two Black stones, placed so that stones of the same color occupy opposite diagonals of that area.
Turns:Black plays first, and then turns alternate. On your turn, perform one of the following actions:
Place a stone of your color on an empty point in such a way that it forms a valid snake or hatchling.
Select the tail of a snake or hatchling of your color and move it by placing it as a new head on a point orthogonally adjacent to its current head, either empty or occupied by an enemy stone; if the point is occupied, the enemy snake or hatchling involved is displaced in the same way, moving its tail as a new head, as a result of the push. The move is legal only if the friendly snake or hatchling that pushes is longer than the pushed enemy snake or hatchling.
Select an egg of your color and move it to an empty point orthogonally or diagonally adjacent. A stone that detaches from a snake or hatchling moves as an egg, even if at the end of the move it becomes connected to other snakes or hatchlings.
If there is no push, an egg or the head of the moved snake or hatchling must end up closer to any board edge or, if it was already on an edge, closer to a corner. If there is a push, at least one of the moved snakes or hatchlings must satisfy that same condition. At the end of the turn, there must be no crosscuts.
End of the game:The winner is the player who connects their two sides of the board with a snake of their own stones, or, if neither succeeds, the last player to perform an action.
To balance the game, before starting, the first player places a black stone on an empty point and the second player chooses a side. This balancing method is called the pie rule.
