Descrizione: In Oniria, players enter a dream world inspired by Mesoamerican spirituality and Mexican folklore. The game follows the journey of La Soñadora (The One Who Dreams), undergoing a chamanic voyage. She must awaken by successfully navigating her dream and overcoming various Sombras (Shadows), which represent fears and trials drawn from Mexican legends such as La Llorona and El Charro Negro. The Soñadoras, meanwhile, are inspired by figures from pre-Columbian civilizations.
Gameplay:
Oniria is a strategic trick-taking game with hidden card play and dynamic scoring. Each round, seven Location cards establish specific rules or constraints that influence the players’ strategies. The Soñadora attempts to score higher than the combined total of the Sombras' cards to gain control of the location. If she succeeds, she progresses on her journey. If not, the Sombra with the strongest card claims control and earns points.
Goal:
Players take turns embodying the Soñadora, competing to accumulate points across several rounds. The game continues until all players have had the opportunity to play as the Soñadora. The player with the highest score at the end emerges victorious, having dominated or escaped the dream world.
