In Contrário, players take on the enormous responsibility of commanding the performances at the Bumbódromo, defending their colors with strategy, cunning, and passion. Choose your side in this epic contest: the strength of Boi Caprichoso, black and sporting its imposing blue star on its forehead, or the tenacity of Boi Garantido, entirely white and guided by its vibrant red heart on its forehead.
The goal of the game is to orchestrate a flawless spectacle, managing to accumulate exactly 21 items in the arena during your performance. Through a fast and engaging mechanic, players simultaneously choose and reveal cards from their hands. These cards represent the elements of the festival, from numerical values to build the score to powerful special items — such as The Shaman, The Lady of the Pavilion, or the Warrior Cunhã — that alter the rules in your favor.
However, the true essence of Contrário lies in the provocation and interaction with your opponent. The opposing fans are always on the lookout, ready to ruin your show. Players can use the back of their cards to point out "flaws" in their opponent's presentation, such as a disjointed choreography, fireworks that failed, or a float that doesn't move. These flaws are added to the opponent's list, adding unexpected points with the aim of making them exceed the limit of 21 items, blowing their score and guaranteeing victory for their side of the stands.
