Descrizione: This educational board game was first presented at the 2017 Seoul Queer Culture Festival as part of the Transgender Queer Visibility Project organized by the collective Do Learn Do Run(두런두런). The game is designed to provide players with an experiential understanding of the social challenges faced by transgender and gender-queer individuals, while encouraging discussion about solidarity and collective action.
Goal and Win Condition
Happiness tokens function as both the game's score and in-game currency.
Players aim to accumulate the highest number of Happiness tokens while completing one full circuit of the board.
A player is eliminated if their number of Happiness tokens reaches zero.
The player with the most Happiness tokens at the end of the game wins.
Rules Overview
All players are assigned transgender character cards. These cards contain information about the character's gender identity and dysphoria.
Players roll a four-sided die numbered 1–4.
On a roll of 1–3, the player moves forward that number of spaces.
On a roll of 4, the player may choose to move 1–3 spaces.
Players receive a base amount of Happiness tokens at the starting space.
If a player has at least the minimum required number of tokens to undertake medical transition, they may spend the specified cost to carry out a transition step.
Each space on the board represents situations or statements that transgender individuals may encounter in society.
Landing on spaces containing discriminatory or hateful remarks causes players to lose Happiness tokens.
Landing on spaces depicting gender-affirming situations grants Happiness tokens.
When landing on a "Passing Die" space, the player rolls a die to determine the passing criteria applied for that turn.
If the criteria are met, the player gains points; if not, they lose points.
On legal gender recognition spaces, penalties apply only if the player has not obtained their desired legal gender status.
As more medical transition steps are completed, the cost of legal gender recognition decreases.
Additionally, as more players undergo transition, both the cost of medical transition and the minimum token requirement are reduced.
