Descrizione: This is a tongue-in-cheek mini game from Excalibur Games that was produced as a convention giveaway which included a list of some games for sale.

I am told that they had different sheets that represented local teams of the particular convention area. The names of the teams were changed to a local game club and an opponent at the time of the convention.

This particular one is the Minnesota Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders and was handed out at an early Pacificon Game Expo, Santa Clara, CA, circa 1980. Printed on silver card stock.

A little research reveals that the only time the Oakland Raiders played the Minnesota Vikings on Labor Day weekend, which is when the Pacificon game expos are traditionally held, was 1980. I believe we can conclude this is a good way to date this particular game.

The game is meant as a joke. However, there is a actually a very simplified version of a football game listed on this page. They don't identify how mark the Scrimmage line, a square block. Die roles determine the play, the penalties, the field goal and the extra point. Allowances are made for penalties and a rough copy of a football field is used. There are penalties.
