Descrizione: Mesopotamia is a richly thematic civilization-building board game set at the dawn of human history. You’ll step into the role of a civilization, choosing from the Babylonians, Elamites, Akkadians, or Sumerians—and guide your people from modest beginnings to enduring greatness.
Each civilization has its own unique strengths and flavor, drawing from historical roots to shape how you play. As you explore the shifting landscape, you’ll uncover mysterious lands and spark dramatic events that present tough choices. Your decisions could bring civilizations together or tear alliances apart in the blink of an eye.
Thanks to a modular, dual-layer board and hidden event tokens, no two games feel the same. The civilizations play differently every time, ensuring that each session is full of surprises and strategic depth.
As the game progresses, you’ll unlock more actions—and those actions become more powerful. Tension builds until the Hanging Gardens rise, signaling the end of an epic journey.
These actions are:
Explore
You’ll begin your journey by exploring new lands. Activating your units, you’ll move them into uncharted areas on the map. When you land on a space with an event tile, you’ll reveal it and draw an event card, which usually offers important choices that affect your civilization and may influence interactions with other players.
Build
Building is crucial to your civilization's advancement. You’ll construct mighty ziggurats, build walls to protect your cities, and create ships and battering rams to expand your reach. The opportunity to construct the world’s first wonder—the Hanging Gardens—can shift the balance of power and provide lasting glory.
Research
As your civilization grows, so too does your need for new technologies. The Research action allows you to upgrade your civilization’s abilities, unlocking more powerful actions and making your civilization stronger. Progressing in technology is vital to your success.
Agriculture
Agriculture is the foundation of your civilization's growth. Expanding your population increases your ability to deploy more units to the board and gives you an edge in Initiative order, allowing you to act first in critical moments.
Gather and Trade
Through the Gather action, your units can collect resources from the map, which are vital for building and sustaining your civilization. As the game progresses, trading these resources will allow you to gain more advantages or even trade them for victory points as you near the game’s conclusion.
Warfare
Warfare is inevitable in the struggle for dominance. You’ll build military units and accumulate Warfare Power, which you’ll secretly allocate into three categories—Strength, Tactics, and Mobility. Strength decides the victor, Tactics provides unit bonuses, and Mobility determines whether you pursue or retreat. Warfare decisions are key to asserting your civilization’s superiority.
