Kingdoms: The Battle of Five Realms is a strategy-driven game of conquest, diplomacy, and survival set in the immersive, lore-rich world of Ëravor. It is a time of rising kingdoms and ancient magic, of cunning assassins and valiant defenders, where players battle for dominance in a land divided by treacherous terrain and unpredictable powers.
In Kingdoms, each player commands an army seeking to conquer territories, claim kingdoms, and rule realms. Players will strategically deploy forces, utilize powerful Kingdom and World Cards, and leverage the unique benefits and dangers of Ëravor’s diverse terrains. With every decision, they must balance offense, defense, and resource management to outwit their rivals and secure their place as the ultimate ruler.
Each player begins the game with their armies in reserve, a hand of Kingdom Cards, and the opportunity to shape their strategy based on the dynamic terrain and their opponents’ actions. The game is driven by a combination of tactical moves and card play: players place armies using coordinate cards, disrupt opponents with assassins and conquerors, or protect their forces with defenders and spells. Meanwhile, the map’s active terrains—forests, mountains, rivers, and more—offer both rewards and threats, keeping gameplay unpredictable and interactive.
Kingdoms rewards skill and planning over luck. While World Cards introduce variability through natural disasters, terrain benefits, and other events, players have tools to mitigate these risks with careful preparation. Combat is resolved through calculated choices, not random rolls, making every battle a test of strategy rather than chance.
Victory comes from ruling realms. To dominate a realm, players must conquer and defend 2 out of its 3 kingdoms by occupying key spaces and linking their armies to the kingdom. The path to victory is fraught with danger, as opponents can use their own armies, and magic to overturn even the most fortified kingdoms. Players must adapt their strategies to evolving threats, seize opportunities to expand their influence, and make critical decisions about when to attack, defend, or retreat.
From the treacherous Scorched Wood to the resource-rich Emerald Isles, each terrain offers unique opportunities for players to shape their paths to victory. The dynamic interplay of army movement, card play strategy, and terrain effects creates a deeply replayable experience that feels fresh every time.
